We have been fortunate to have a longstanding relationship with this client-- they were one of our firsts! Transforming multiple spaces in their home throughout the years, our work with them began on the main floor, updating the floor plan to better suit their lifestyle. We curated and provided the majority of the furnishings in the dining room, living room and den as well as retrofitting the kitchen, using the existing layout, but updating the appliances, countertop, backsplash, and lighting. Once the main floor was beautifully designed, their sights turned to the basement where they wanted to make a second family friendly living area that they could share with their kids and grandkids, and would also be great for entertaining friends. This large area had been last designed thirty years ago, and needed some major renovations to achieve their dream for a fresh and fun media and game room for their family to gather and their grandkids to play. We knew that the homeowner loved color, but wanted to do something a bit fresh and unexpected to this space. We added a lot of dramatic pattern in the black and white zebra print carpet and fun punches of color in the green, greek key swivel chairs and teal ottoman. The black sectional is perfect for movie night or Super Bowl party. We additionally pulled in an ebony card table and chairs that stand out against the light blue backdrop. Gold lighting, hardware and grey paint on the built-in bookcases add a level of sophistication to this basement renovation. We used a luxury vinyl plank flooring that would better withstand wear and tear, and painted the walls and cabinetry to brighten the space. There is very little natural light, so to lighten and brighten was especially important. This family loves that their tired, old basement has been reinvented into an updated media and game room beautifully suited for family gatherings and just the right spot for new memories.
